FAQs
What does the acronym BWCVA stand for?
BWCVA stands for Black Women of Central Virginia.
What areas of Central Va. do you serve?
Our efforts are focused on serving Black women and girls located within Charlottesville, Albemarle, Louisa, Fluvanna, Greene, Madison, and Orange counties.
Do I have to be a mentor to join?
No. We will need to have a solid mentoring group, so the more willing the better, but this is not a requirement at this time.
How Are Events hosted by BWCVA funded?
To fund events and other financial obligations, there will be fundraising, grant proposals, and other sought-after organization partnerships. Fees/Dues will be further discussed in upcoming meetings and finalized among those committed to BWCVA.
What is the required age of members? Mentees?
Members: 25 and older preferred, but will review requests from women 21-24. Mentees: Girls in grades 5-8 enrolled in Charlottesville City and Albemarle County Public Schools. There are plans to expand to other schools in the future.
How can I help support BWCVA?
There are many ways that you can get involved. Please use our contact page so that we can connect and discuss; or use the Paypal button in order to make a monetary donation.
